Use of Continuous Simulation for Evaluation of Stormwater Management Practices to Maintain Base Flow and Control Erosion
Guther, R.T., Scheckenberger, R.B. and Blackport, W.R.
1996 Stormwater and Water Quality Management Modelling Conference
Advances in modeling the management of stormwater impacts - Vol 5
pp. 77-100., Toronto, Ontario 1997.Abstract
Maintaining the natural distribution of flow within watercourse ecosystems is desirable for the support of downstream fisheries, and preservation of natural channel forming processes. Increases in impervious land coverage and efficient conveyance systems, associated with urban development, can lead to a decrease in infiltration and associated decrease in base flow to downstream watercourses, along with localized temporal and absolute increases in high flows, which ultimately impact on channel form and associated habitat.
