Overview
Simplifying the complexities of large and small storm water modeling projects, the comprehensive PCSWMM 2006 package is ideal for solving problems ranging from small BMP installations to continuous hydrology, hydraulics and quality simulation of major/minor drainage systems.
Utilizing the US EPA's Stormwater Management Model (SWMM4) core processes, PCSWMM 2006 goes further to provide a powerful, easy-to-use Geographic Information System (GIS) with optional links to existing GIS/AM/FM/CAD databases.
PCSWMM 2006 has been the leading decision support system for SWMM since it's inception in 1984. For the newer EPA SWMM5 modeling, please see the PCSWMM.NET software.

-
PCSWMM 2006 makes state-of-the-art storm water modeling easy
-
-
Graphically
'draw' your drainage system, or quickly import data from existing SWMM
files, databases, spreadsheets, etc. Wizard-style interface technology
redefines data input simplicity. - Expert system error-checking, decision-support technologies integrating the World Wide Web, and automated sensitivity & error analysis speed model development and increase confidence.
- Analysis of the computed results couldn't be easier, with dynamic (animated) playback in both plan and profile views, on-the-fly objective, response, and error functions, and custom plots of both event and continuous timeseries which can be cut-and-pasted into your reports.
- With the built-in flexibility to handle any SWMM engine, PCSWMM 2006 can meet today's FEMA requirements and easily support tomorrow's SWMM4 enhancements.
-
-
Unlimited modeling capability
-
- Full support of all SWMM4 modules and procedures, with the built-in flexibility to support 3rd-party or in-house procedures.
- Unlimited number of model entities (5000+ conduits/nodes/ subcatchments) supported (no additional fees).
- Award-winning interface design including many usability technologies: Wizards, World Wide Web look and feel, Property Sheets and strict adherence to Windows GUI standards.
-
Flexible, powerful GIS attributes
-
- High-performance stand-alone GIS tailored for stormwater and wastewater modeling.
- Background layer support for ArcView, AutoCAD, MapInfo, Microstation, TIFF, JPEG, BMP and many more.
- Links to most popular GIS/AM/FM/CAD software for data extraction
- Aggregation tools for reducing the number (complexity) of imported model entities.
-
Unique tools extend the SWMM4 modeling environment
-
-
An
innovative, flexible data editor conforms to your work style: whether
your preference is for user-friendly forms-based input, powerful
spreadsheet-style editing or document format. No matter what your
preference, onscreen context-sensitive help follows your every step. - Automated sensitivity, calibration and error analysis tools provide a unique insight into your model's performance and dramatically speed the calibration process.
- User friendly BMP wizard for designing permeable pavement installations.
- Storm dynamics analysis tools for powerful hyetograph data processing including determining storm cell velocity and data logger discretizing and importing.
- Animated playback of hydraulic grade lines as well as multiple observed vs. computed plots provide powerful visualizations of model results.
- Instantaneous objective functions and error functions computed on any type of timeseries, along with powerful timeseries importing/exporting and data management utilities.
- Stormwater bibliographic database containing over 10,000 references and 6000 abstracts.
-
-
General time-limited license includes training
-
- Time-limited software is downloaded over the web and includes a 2- , 3- , or 4-day training workshop.
- Software workshops are given by CHI's professional engineers and model developers.
- Training workshops are regularly offered in Canada, the USA and Overseas, at many different locations, probably near where you work.
- Workshops include complete software documentation and a full set of training materials.
- Non-time-limited software extensions are available at special pricing.
- An annual workshop in Toronto is held in the 3rd week of February together with an International Conference on Stormwater and Urban Water Systems Modeling.
-
Industry-leading support
-
- Unlimited technical support by professional engineers and model developers.
- Complete web support featuring the SWMM Q&A searchable database, with over 1000 topics covering a wide range of modeling issues.
- Upgrades are free for 6 months, after that they're half-price for subsequent upgrades.
-
CHI's strong reputation as a storm water management authority
-
- Developing and supporting innovative storm water modeling software since 1977, CHI's staff have also published over 200 technical papers on urban drainage.
- A proponent of SWMM since it's inception, CHI was the first to port SWMM from the mainframe environment to the PC.
- PCSWMM is the most widely-adopted decision support system for the US EPA's SWMM program. It has been continuously expanded and improved since it's inception in 1984.
