Day 1 (Beginner-Intermediate)
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Day 1 focuses on introducing the theory, concepts and tools available for EPA SWMM5 stormwater and wastewater modeling using PCSWMM. Lectures are interspersed with real-world hands-on exercises, with plenty of time for one-on-one interaction with the instructor.
Introduction to EPA SWMM5 and PCSWMM, hydrology and hydraulics theory, model construction, discretization and parameterization (including GIS integration), model validation and model inference, with a focus on urban stormwater modeling including flood management, storage facility design, and system evaluation using both design storms and continuous modeling.
Day 2 (Advanced)
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Day 2 focuses on progressing your skills and mastering the latest advances in EPA SWMM and PCSWMM. We highly recommended that you have already participated in the Day 1 training of a PCSWMM workshop if signing up for this advanced 1 day course.
Low Impact Development (LID), integrated 1D-2D flood modeling, model debugging and calibration, sanitary and wastewater modeling, water quality, and time series analysis (duration analysis, hydromodification, etc.).
Full-time students (with proof of status) are entitled to a 30% discount.

PCSWMM PROFESSIONAL 2D 60-day workshop license
WORKSHOP TRAINING MATERIALS Course login information will be provided prior to the workshop. Attendees will have permanent access to the course, provided they have a valid PCSWMM license. Once logged into the course, live sessions, presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises are accessible through the course schedule.
If an attendee cannot make it to one of the live presentations, links to pre-recorded videos will be made available sometime after the presentation.
What You Will Need
You will need a 15" or greater laptop or desktop computer with the following specifications and installed software:

We will supply a link to download software before the workshop. You must download, install, and activate the latest version of the software prior to the workshop. Please notify us if you have problems with installation or activation.
Microsoft Windows 10, 8, or 7 operating system
Microsoft .NET 4.5 framework
Minimum physical memory: 4 GB
Minimum free disk space: 20 GB
Minimum screen resolution: 1600 x 900 pixels
We strongly recommend a 15" or larger screen, with a resolution between 1600x900 pixels and 1920x1200 pixels and text size set to 100%. This will enable the exercise instructions and the software to be displayed on the screen side-by-side.

KAT FINNEY, B.Sc.(Eng), M.Sc.(Eng), P.Eng.
With over 10 years of experience working as an engineer for CHI, Kat has extensive experience with watershed models for a variety of applications including real-time flood forecasting, LID investigations and integrated 1D-2D model analysis. She has conducted many training workshops across North America, South America, China and South Africa on PCSWMM and EPA SWMM.
MICHAEL GREGORY, M.Sc., P.Eng., PE
Mike has 28 years of experience in water resources planning, analysis, design, program financing, and policy development. He has developed hydrologic and hydraulic models for over 100 stormwater analysis and design projects and specializes in continuous simulation for water balance calculations, non-point source water quality loading, sizing of sediment removal and rainwater harvesting facilities, and assessment of watercourse and wetland impacts. He has also assisted with the development of and technical support for stormwater modeling software. Mike has been a lead author and researcher for many peer-reviewed technical papers and publications, and has presented and lectured at conferences, seminars, training workshops and universities world-wide.
NANDANA PERERA, Ph.D., P.Eng.
With more than ten years of consulting engineering experience, Nandana specializes in water quantity and quality modeling in stormwater/sanitary systems and watershed modeling with different focuses including dual drainage, low-impact development, flood analysis and 1D-2D integrated modeling. He has conducted a number of training workshops across North America on PCSWMM and EPA SWMM and is continuously working on training expansion into Sri Lanka and India.
HAILIANG SHEN, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Hailiang is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario with over 8 years of experience and has expertise in modeling for various applications. Prior to joining CHI in 2017, Hailiang was a water resources modeling specialist with GHD. He has applied modeling techniques for various hydraulic structures design analysis and environmental assessment studies. His expertise includes 1D, 2D, and 3D hydrodynamic and water quality modeling for riverine/lake systems, hydraulic modeling for stormwater, and sanitary sewer systems. He has developed techniques to couple automated model runs with optimization algorithms to enable efficient sensitivity and calibration studies. Hailiang has working knowledge of the following modeling packages: PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, RMA2/RMA4, CE-QUAL-W2, EFDC, Delft3D, TELEMAC-2D/3D, InfoWater, EPANET, Bentley Hammer, and has developed over 60 tools in 10 programming languages for model pre- and post-processing. Hailiang has published over 15 scientific papers and acts as peer-reviewer for three technical journals.
KAELEIGH MACPHAIL, B.Sc., EIT.
Kaeleigh is a graduate from the University of Guelph and has been working with CHI since May 2020. Kaeleigh has been working closely with the CHI training division, specializing in creating online training content for SWMM5 hydrology, hydraulics, LIDs, and watershed modules. She has co-instructed over 10 workshops throughout North America and has presented over 50 webinars to users around the world. Kaeleigh is currently working closely with the City of Kitchener in streamlining the representation and analysis for Etobicoke Exfiltration Systems using SWMM5.
