This workshop will be led by one or more of the following instructors:

Ellen Arrowsmith, B.Eng, EIT

Ellen has 3 years of experience in the water resources and climate risk sectors. Her experience modeling for stormwater analysis and design spans both rural and urban environments with a focus on low-impact development, flood risk assessment, and floodline mapping. Ellen specializes in automating water resources modeling tasks and analysis through scripting. Prior to joining CHI, Ellen worked as a consulting water resources engineer and as a product manager in the machine learning industry, with a focus on climate risk modeling.

KAT FINNEY, B.Sc.(Eng), M.Sc.(Eng), P.Eng.

With over 10 years of experience working as an engineer for CHI, Kat has extensive experience with watershed models for a variety of applications including real-time flood forecasting, LID investigations and integrated 1D-2D model analysis. She has conducted many training workshops across North America, South America, China and South Africa on PCSWMM and EPA SWMM.

MICHAEL GREGORY, M.Sc., P.Eng., PE

Mike over 30 years of experience in water resources planning, analysis, design, program financing, and policy development. He has developed hydrologic and hydraulic models for over 100 stormwater analysis and design projects and specializes in continuous simulation for water balance calculations, non-point source water quality loading, sizing of sediment removal and rainwater harvesting facilities, and assessment of watercourse and wetland impacts. He has also assisted with the development of and technical support for stormwater modeling software. Mike has been a lead author and researcher for many peer-reviewed technical papers and publications, and has presented and lectured at conferences, seminars, training workshops and universities world-wide.

DIEGO A. PAEZ, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Diego has over 7 years of experience in water supply and storm water modelling and management as well as over 3 years of experience in coastal and fluvial risk assessment and mitigation. His expertise includes using hydroinformatic tools to solve problems in municipal infrastructure modelling and design, transient analysis, fluvial and coastal flood risk profiling and mapping, and hydraulic modelling of pipeline systems. He has delivered undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia) and at Queen’s University (Canada) and has instructed workshops in North and South America. Diego has over 10 peer-reviewed scientific publications and over 15 international conference publications and presentations.

NANDANA PERERA, Ph.D., P.Eng.

With more than 15 years of consulting engineering experience, Nandana specializes in water quantity and quality modeling in stormwater/sanitary systems and watershed modeling with different focuses including dual drainage, low-impact development, flood analysis and 1D-2D integrated modeling. He has conducted a number of training workshops across North America on PCSWMM and EPA SWMM and is continuously working on training expansion into Sri Lanka and India.

HAILIANG SHEN, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Hailiang is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario with over 10 years of experience and has expertise in modeling for various applications. Prior to joining CHI in 2017, Hailiang was a water resources modeling specialist with GHD. He has applied modeling techniques for various hydraulic structures design analysis and environmental assessment studies. His expertise includes 1D, 2D, and 3D hydrodynamic and water quality modeling for riverine/lake systems, hydraulic modeling for stormwater, and sanitary sewer systems. He has developed techniques to couple automated model runs with optimization algorithms to enable efficient sensitivity and calibration studies. Hailiang has working knowledge of the following modeling packages: PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, RMA2/RMA4, CE-QUAL-W2, EFDC, Delft3D, TELEMAC-2D/3D, InfoWater, EPANET, Bentley Hammer, and has developed over 60 tools in 10 programming languages for model pre- and post-processing. Hailiang has published over 15 scientific papers and acts as peer-reviewer for three technical journals.

Cancellation Policy

YES, I have read the cancellation policy below.

Cancellations prior to 14 calendar days before the workshop will be refunded in full. Cancellations received within 14 days but prior to 7 calendar days before the workshop will forfeit 50% of the registration fee. Cancellations received less than 7 days before the workshop will not be refunded; however, registrants will be eligible for a 50% credit towards any future workshop.

CHI retains the right to cancel the workshop. If the workshop is canceled registrants will receive a full refund of the registration fee. CHI will not be liable for any other expenses occurred by the registrant. Normally, cancellation will not occur within 7 days of the date of the workshop.
