OVERVIEW

This PCSWMM and EPA SWMM5 workshop focuses on getting both new and advanced users up to speed on the full capabilities of these two integrated modeling packages. Learn the theory, tools and practical hands-on applications of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater, wastewater and watershed systems. Special emphasis is on drainage system planning and analysis using both single event and continuous modeling. Advanced topics include green infrastructure (LIDs), integrated 1D-2D and watershed flood modeling. You can attend the full 2 day workshop (for beginner and intermediate skill levels) or just the advanced workshop on Day 2 (for returning attendees).

ACCREDITATION

You can earn up to 1.5 CEUs for participating in the 2-Day workshop. Earn 0.75 CEUs for participating in the 1-Day Advanced workshop.

AGENDA

Day 1 (Beginner-Intermediate)

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Day 1 focuses on introducing the theory, concepts and tools available for EPA SWMM5 stormwater and wastewater modeling. Lectures are interspersed with real-world hands-on exercises, with plenty of time for one-on-one interaction with the instructor.

TOPICS INCLUDE

Introduction to EPA SWMM5 and PCSWMM, hydrology and hydraulics theory, model construction, discretization and parameterization (including GIS integration), model validation and model inference, with a focus on urban stormwater and/or sanitary modeling including flood management, storage facility design, and system evaluation using both design storms and continuous modeling.

Day 2 (Advanced-2D)

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Day 2 focuses on progressing your skills and mastering the latest advances in EPA SWMM and PCSWMM. We highly recommended that you have already participated in the Day 1 training of a PCSWMM workshop if signing up for this advanced 1 day course.

TOPICS INCLUDE

Low Impact Development (LID), integrated 1D-2D flood modeling, model debugging and calibration, watershed modeling (including importing HEC-RAS models), erosion, and time series analysis (duration analysis, hydromodification, etc.).
